Email Policy on
llorien.org
- Spam is _not_ tolerated at any level.
- Sender domain will automatically be reported to rfc-ignorant if
you infringe on the rules for using email servers, like acceptance of
postmaster address or DSN.
- Mail receipt confirmations will automatically be removed on any incoming mail.
- Due to the inability of hotmail.com to deliver mail correctly (mail is delivered correctly to their servers and most of the time vanishes without caution), this domain will be added in the blacklists for receiving as well as for sending to. If microsoft solves this issue, mail to and from this domain may work again. Please do no contact me about any hotmail delivery issue as I won't even bother to reply.
- If you see any abuse from people using llorien.org servers, please report it to abuse at llorien dot org.
- If you have a problem sending us Email, please look at the following list
- Ensure that your outgoing mail servers are not listed in any blacklist (for example, use DNSStuff, AND rfc-ignorant).
- Ensure that the timeouts for the different phases of the SMTP protocol are in compliance with RFC2821.
- Configure your mail server in the way that the HELO resolves to an A record in the DNS, that this A record correctly points back to your outgoing IP address and that this IP address has got a PTR record of the same value. Please note that underscores are not valid in names of machines connected to the internet.
- Ensure that bounce messages are accepted to all mail addresses used to send mail to the outside world. (yes, even your do-not-reply@domain.tld).
- Ensure that the mail client correclty encodes attachments in standard MIME format.
- Ensure that your mail server retries deliveries when a temporary error is returned.
- Ensure that your email didn't contain common potentially harmful attachments (files with extension ade adp bas bat chm cmd com cpl crt exe hlp hta inf ins isp js jse lnk msc msi msp mst pcd pif reg scr sct shs shb vb vbe vbs wsc wsf wsh).
- Ensure that none of your MX records points to a CNAME or an IP address and that all names in MX are resolvable through external DNS.
- Ensure that the content you the email was not abusive. If it was a distribution list, please ensu re that the recipient has subscribed and has the right to unsubscribe easily.
- Ensure that your server or user don't use antispam software based on challenge/response.
- Ensure that your mail server and clients have a recent up to date antivirus program.
Most of these rules are only the direct application of the rules described in the RFCs.
Please take note that some of your mails may pass through even if some of these rules are not applied because we are using an advanced whitelisting system which works one a "one sender and one recipient" basis. This system permits some mails to pass through if they are replies. In no case this garantees you that all your mails will pass through if you do not follow the basic rules for sending emails.
"The Internet relies on the cooperative use of private resources.
Sending email is a privilege, not a right."
